World Post Day!

It's World Post Day today! Woohoo!

I haven't heard about World Post Day until today, but apparently it's a day created to celebrate traditional mail and its important role in how we communicate and connect with people all around the world.

World Post Day is celebrated annually on the 9th of October, which is the anniversary of the of the Universal Postal Union (UPU) in 1874.

In certain countries, today is celebrated as a working holiday. Although we don't celebrate World Post Day as openly as other countries, Pos Malaysia has issued a special World Post Day stamp collection!

"The letter evokes the fundamental values and mainstay of the postal industry, whereas the digitised lines and shape on the bird represents the modernisation of the postal industry as it continuously strives to evolve and transform to meet the demands of the modern world." - MalaysianDigest

For more information about the stamps and their prices, I encourage you to read the original article from Malaysian Digest.

Now, everyone is encouraged to celebrate World Post Day however they want. In Malaysia, Post Malaysia organized a number of different activities ranging from lucky draws to competition at post offices nationwide.

If you participate in Postcrossing or are just an avid stamp collector, don't forget to celebrate World Post Day with your local post office!

Pokemon GO: Is this Real?!

As someone who grew up watching, collecting, drawing and being overall obsessed with Pokemon, this was amazing news!

For lack of an ability to explain why this is so amazing here is their promotional video.

Now, the game might not look like this in real life. Until our geniuses figure out a way to put this game together with the Oculus Rift and create a real virtual reality, we're stuck with this. It's still a great idea.

A friend and colleague of mine were discussing the possibilities. Imagine if you could only capture Pokemon specific to your region like in the actual show? We'd probably have to go all the way to Antarctica to capture Articuno or even hike up a volcano to capture a Magmar.

Saiful and I discussing the possibilities

If this wasn't a great reason to finally go outside and take a walk, then I don't know what is!

Although the release date for the app is supposed to be around next year in 2016, I still can't help but look forward to it! (>w<)
