If you're going to be travelling in Sabah, here are some homestays in Kundasang that you should check out!

For those of you who don't know about Kundasang, it's a small town that is located in the district of Ranau. People who are travelling to and from Kota Kinabalu would definitely pass by Kundasang.

As a child, my parents would prefer to brave the 6 to 8 hour drive from Sandakan to Kota Kinabalu for Christmas. On the way, we would stop by Ranau and maybe Kundasang a little later. This was when the little wooden shop houses still lined the side of the roads beckoning local and foreign travellers to purchase or snap a photo of the local produce.

The first thing I remember about Kundasang back in those days was the musty smell of old fruits and the buzz of flies as they congregated around the stalls.

As Kundasang is located in the mountains, the first thing that hits you is how cool the air is. In fact, you can expect temperatures to go below 20 degrees Celcius. This cool temperature makes it ideal for growing things like tea and strawberries. In fact, Kundasang is where you can take a look at how Sabah's famous tea is grown and made.

Thanks to the scenic views, cool temperatures and amazing locals, Kundasang has also become a popular place for homestays. However, some of them are not listed on travel sites like Tripadvisor or Agoda. So, I've decided to compile a list of homestays in Kundasang for your reference (and mine)!
