DL House Airbnb Review

Sunday, November 20, 2016

When you travel, there's nothing more important than your accommodation.

This was not my first time trying our Airbnb. I had opted to stay at a guest house while I was in Japan earlier this year. It was a great experience. I had a good host and the guests were very friendly and helpful.

This time however, I will be travelling with my parents and a cramped guest house would definitely be a no no. I could have easily booked a hotel room, but it was tough to find an affordable hotel room that was for 3 adults. Especially when you're booking your room late (like I did....haha TwT).

Airbnb allows you to rent whole apartments for you and your friends or family. Some hosts even let you bring in extra people at no charge as long as you follow the rules stated on their listing.

The first place we stayed at was DL's House in Busan.

Location-wise, this place was AMAZING

It was super easy to find. As long as you follow the instructions exactly then you'll have no problem. If you're really lost, you can always just text Chris (the host) through the Airbnb app or other chat app.
The apartment building was literally 2 minutes from the train entrance and it had an elevator so you don't have to lug your bags up the stairs.
The entrance to the apartment also had a cafe, a bakery and even a 7-Eleven.

Beomnaegol subway station : 1minute
Bus station : 1min.
Airport bus station : 1 min.
Busan station(KTX): 10min. subway
Soemyun downtown : 5-10 min. walk
Haeundae beach : 30 min. subway
Gwang-an beach : 20 min. subway
Nampo-dong : 15min. subway

The Apartment

Chris' apartment looks exactly like the images on his Airbnb listing. Although I didn't take any pictures of my own, just trust that the pictures are a very accurate representation of the living space.

It was absolutely clean when we arrived and it was easy to access. Again, just follow the instructions provided and you won't have any trouble.

The only problem with the apartment is the 2nd floor. It looks like a regular 2nd floor space in the pictures but it has a VERY low ceiling. It can be very difficult to maneuver up there as you basically have to keep your body bent or crouched on the floor.

There are ample plugs on the 2nd floor and the pillows and blankets were comfortable and warm.

Here are some pictures taken from Chris' Airbnb listing so you have an idea.

This is probably one of the most important things for me when looking for a place to stay.

Fortunately, the bathroom at Chris' place was great.

There were ample towels, but they're small. I know some homes use small towels but for those of you who are used to using towels you can wrap yourself with, you can forget about that here. haha

Another thing to note is that the drain for the shower is located outside the shower area. So all that water will flow out into the main toilet area, making it wet and slippery. Just use the bathroom slippers provided and you'll be fine.

You don't need to bring soap and shampoo with you. Chris provides shower gel, shampoos and even  facial cleanser in his bathroom. At the toilet sink you can find toothpaste too.

Free Wi-Fi (the password is on the router)

The Host

Our host's name is Chris Young Min. While we did not meet him personally, I did manage to text him during our stay. Even during the days and weeks leading up to our stay, he would reply my questions quickly. He has very good English and will readily answer any questions you might have.

On our last day, I had forgotten that checkout time was at 11am. He texted me and I explained to him that my parents and I were at Taejongdae. He was understanding and told me to take our time as three was nobody else renting the apartment after us.

Overall, he was a great host. :)

Here is the review I left on Chris' listing.
